What we’re all about.
Gahanna Special Olympics serves to provide year-round sports training and competition opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, contributing to their physical, social, and psychological development.
We currently serve approximately 128 athletes from the local Gahanna community. We offer seven core sports — Basketball, Bocce Ball, Bowling, Flag Football, Soccer, Swimming, Track & Field. We are an all-volunteer organization (with approximately 60 volunteers), and our funding is 100% self-generated.
Right now, we’re hoping to raise $5,000 so that all our eligible athletes are able to attend Special Olympics Ohio’s Winter Games at Bowling Green State University. We don’t charge our athletes anything, even for their hotel rooms, so this would allow everyone to go.
